Monterubbiano Le Marche

MONTERUBBIANO

Monday Morning ViewMonterubbiano is one of the very few villages in Italy to have been awarded the Italian Touring Club’s Orange Flag Award. The village sits high above the Aso valley and has panoramic views across the valley and to the Adriatic in the distance.

To many it has some of the most breathtaking views in the whole of Le Marche and it is one of the few hilltop villages where many of the village houses also have gardens. With a population of over 2,300 it is one of the larger hilltop villages in southern Le Marche.

The small medieval cobbled streets and lanes and the open green spaces around the perimeter of the village allow the visitor a wonderful opportunity to explore this beautiful unspoilt Italian village. Because of its beauty and proximity to the Adriatic coast, the village has become increasingly popular with foreign buyers, and to Italians looking both for holiday homes and indeed permanent homes within a short distance of the coast.

Beautiful Marche Town HousesMonterubbiano is twinned with the town of Winster in the Derbyshire Dales and several visits have been arranged over recent years between the two villages. It has many small family run shops as well as several bars and restaurants. The centrally placed, Hotel Degli Sforza in the Corso Italia is now under new ownership and as well as offering excellent accomodation and food also has a large rooftop restaurant allowing stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the distant Mountains.

There are several other small restaurants and small bed and breakfasts, both in the village and close by in the surrounding countryside. Monterubbiano is a perfect base in which to live or to use to explore the wonderfully diverse area of southern Le Marche.

Monterubbiano ViewThe surrounding countryside with its numerous small mediaeval hilltop villages, vineyards and olive groves are a constant delight to locals and visitors alike.

The village is also close by the small and beautifully preserved village of Moresco with its stunning tower and battlements. It is only ten minutes from the coastal resorts of Pedaso and Porto san Giorgio, and also is close to the elegant city of Fermo.

For winter sports and outdoor activities it is still less than 45 minutes to the Appenine Mountains to the west. The airport of Ancona is an hour away by car to the north and Pescara airport is 70 minutes to the south. Both these are served by the low cost airline Ryanair and flights are available from Stansted, Liverpool and Frankfurt.
